How to Prepare for General Conference

I love General Conference. I love getting messages from God. Amos 3:7 says: "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." (but- footnote, until)

This time of year is exactly when I personally need God instruction from His prophets. In order to get the most out of General Conference this year I am going to use these steps. I hope that you can follow them with me.

1) Prayer
Pray for the speakers that they will be inspired in what they say and have your heart receptive to the messages they give.

2) Make a List
Make a list of areas that I am struggling in or look for greater understanding in certain principles.

3) Get a Good Nights Rest
Sometimes it can be hard to sit and listen to conference. Get a good nights rest on Friday and Saturday night. This way you can be alert and ready to here the prophets instructions to you. These instructions are from the Lord. I would defiantly get a good nights rest if the Lord was coming to speak to me!

4) Take Notes
The talks will come out in the Ensign, but if you take notes it is a great way to stay awake and put your own personal insights on what has been said.

Temple Square

This weekend my family and I went to Temple Square with some foreign exchange students that are staying with us. We thought that we would go on a short tour. We got a Japanese sister missionary with her companion from the United States. They were doing the tour in Japanese and as they were doing the tour we asked our English speaking missionary how popular the Japanese tours are. She said that they were really popular this week because there was a Japanese work thing going (it was not our foreign exchange program), so the tours were really popular this week, but since the 6 months that the sister Japanese missionary was in, this past week was the only time she was needed. This is another cool thing. There are 11 Japanese sisters serving at Temple Square right now and that is quite a lot. Heavenly Father knew that they were going to be needed so He sent them to Temple Square to give tours because He knew that there were going to be a lot of Japanese people coming to Temple Square for a week so a lot of Japanese missionaries were needed.

To me this made me realize that Heavenly Father does know what is going to happen and He does realize what the needs are going to be. This was certainly a Faith Builder!
